As the values of homes in Wellington have continued to rise and more homeowners make the most of the increase by selling their homes, Wellington property inspection experts Check Home are advising homeowners to make sure their houses are in the best condition possible, by having a qualified building inspector check their home for any issues or problems.

Although the average value of homes in Wellington City declined by 0.2% over the last three months, it rose in Porirua by 0.7%, Lower Hutt by 1.5%, and Upper Hutt 2.7%, taking the overall growth in the value of homes in the Wellington region to 8.5% over the past 12 months. Furthermore, the region is seeing growing demand for different types of property such as smaller semi-detached units with one or two bedrooms – it isn’t just family-sized homes that are rising in value and selling well, according to QV Wellington Senior Consultant David Cornford.

With this in mind, and the knowledge that more and more Wellington homeowners are looking to sell their properties in this time of economic growth, Check Home are encouraging any property owners who are considering selling or buying a home to ensure that there aren’t any critical issues that might affect the sale price, with a house inspection from one of their qualified and experienced building inspectors.

Check Home’s house inspections thoroughly cover both the exterior and interior of any building, checking the roof, framing, eaves and fascias, walls, and chimneys on the outside, as well as floors, ceilings, power points and lights, and all other features, fixtures and fittings on the inside of a home. They’ll also inspect any joinery, wet areas, and other common problem spots that homes face. Additional services that can be added on to a full property inspection include asbestos testing, or an extensive leak elimination report detailing everything that has to be done to stop water entering the home.
