Microsoft’s Jared Spataro has recently announced three major updates to their Office 365 consumer subscriptions. Effective on the 2nd of October, they’re ending device limits, increasing licence numbers for Office 365 Home from five to six, and lastly, Microsoft will be streamlining subscription management into the Microsoft Account portal for easier access.

Currently, both the Office 365 Home and Office 365 Personal subscriptions limit the number of devices you can install the software into. Home only allows ten device installations across five users, while Personal limits users to only one PC, Mac or tablet.

The October update will allow each Office 365 consumer subscriber to install premium Office products across an unlimited number of devices, allowing up to five devices to be signed in at the same time. This means each license holder can use Office no matter where they are or what device they’re on.

On top of that, Microsoft is increasing the number of licenses in the Home subscription from five to six. For no change in price, up to six people can now get all the benefits, including licenses to Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and OneNote, plus 1 TB of OneDrive cloud storage each. That’s a total of 6 TB data storage with access to premium Office 365 products.

These changes to Office 365 Home are perfect for families, renting situations, or groups of professionals who want to split the cost.
