Subaru Corporation in Japan already recognises New Zealand as being a little bit special in the Subaru automotive world. Since adopting a 100% All Wheel Drive-only line-up back in 1996, the New Zealand exclusive authorised distribution business, with its independently owned and operated Kiwi dealer team, has been delivering results that places them in the top 15 worldwide for the Boxer engine manufacturer.

The exceptional performance of Subaru of New Zealand’s (SNZ) Service Department has now earned it a Certificate of Appreciation from Subaru Corporation, in Japan. The accolade recognises the New Zealand service team’s provision of information to Subaru Corporation to assist with the continual improvement of Subaru’s vehicle quality. The protocols delivered and regular technical reports, which identify re-occurring risk mitigation and analyse topics and customer experience perceptions, provide valuable feedback to the global Subaru manufacturer.

SNZ’s Technical Services Manager Phil Maltby says it was an honour to receive the certificate. “The automotive world is extremely competitive in after-sales and very customer experience-focused. It seems at times that every Subaru distributor in the world has stepped up factory interactions in recent decades. So, receiving this Certificate of Appreciation is a reflection that Subaru Corporation recognise the strength of SNZ and truly value the information provided to help with the on-going improvement of the Subaru product.

“A big thanks to the entire service and after-sales team - everyone’s efforts are appreciated, and you should take this certificate as a recognition of your hard work. I also want to thank the passionate and engaged staff at the local Authorised Subaru Dealerships around New Zealand for gathering the correct information that is submitted to Subaru Corporation in a technical report.

Communication between the dealerships and SNZ is very important. The information provided needs to be 100% accurate because every request that the Service Department makes is relevant to improving Subarus for Kiwi owners,” Mr Maltby adds.

Subaru of New Zealand’s Managing Director Wallis Dumper commends the Service Department and the SNZ Authorised Dealership team staff for achieving this certificate. “Behind the scenes of Subaru of New Zealand’s record-breaking sales over recent years, there are many members of the collective Subaru team working hard to ensure a continually-improved product emerges from the factory in Japan. I’d like to thank our Service Department and the staff they deal with in our Authorised Subaru Dealerships around the country for their contributions towards making this happen. The recent challenges of the Takata airbag recalls and the impact of used imports in New Zealand, mean this accolade deserves celebration,” Mr Dumper says.
