With the summer fun surf season just around the corner, Backdoor have been busy, ready to satisfy their many fans’ requirements for surfboards and everything to do with surfing. Backdoor’s new Rotorua shop is now open, with their New Plymouth site opening later on this month. Good news for all surfers and boarders.

More good news comes in the form of the first drop of the Channel Islands Ultra Joe surfboard model being in store now. A brief background on Ultra Joe. A few years’ back the Average Joe surfboard was built, as a fun, simple, easy-to-ride board and it became one of Channel Islands’ top sellers. For 2019, after rounds of customer feedback and team testing, They’ve created a souped-up, sleeker version…the Ultra Joe.

The Ultra Joe boasts foiled rails, a double-bump squash tail, narrower nose with an updated rocker profile, and additional exit rocker. The result is a progressive step forward for beginner/intermediate surfers, while at the same time is an inviting step down for average to good surfers seeking something fun and cruisy on the smaller, weaker days. Despite all these changes, one thing remains the same: the fun factor.

Also arriving in late September is the new surfboard model from Sharpeye surfboards – ‘Storms’. This is the new Kanoa Igarashi pro model. Kanoa Igarashi was born to be a pro surfer, and surfs at his home break in Huntington Beach. He’s double qualified (requalifying throught the CT and QS) for two straight seasons and all signs point to him getting more dangerous with time. This year, Igarashi, who holds dual citizenship, is proudly representing Japan on the global stage, as he looks to surf for them during the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo.

You will also find spring apparel ranges coming through from most of Backdoor’s big brands – ilabb, Volcom, Santa Cruz, Vissla, Billabong, Rusty etc, and their new Backdoor ‘local’ hoodies are in stores now. Locations include Muriwai, Raglan, Mount Maunganui, New Plymouth, Hawkes Bay, Wellington and Christchurch.

With so many outlets now throughout the country, there is no excuse for not ‘dropping in’ to a Backdoor shop, and for more information on skateboard decks, kids’ surfboards and Billabong NZ please go to https://www.backdoor.co.nz.
