Jenlogix Participates in NZSOLD ANCOLD Combined Conference 2019 Resilient Dams for Resilient Communities

Hosted by New Zealand Society on Large Dams and Australian National Committee on Large Dams, Jenlogix participated in the NZSOLD ANCOLD Combined Conference, their 3-yearly New Zealand-Australia combined event. The conference theme: Resilient Dams for Resilient Communities, encoraged people to review their current state of practice, share best practice and explore present and future challenges that we must work collaboratively to address the impacts of natural disasters, climate change and population growth on infrastructure and communities.

Engineers, Dam and Reservoir owners from both New Zealand and Australia gathered for the joint NZSOLD and ANCOLD conference in Auckland from the 9th – 12th of October at the Pullman Hotel in Auckland. This event was well attended and was an ideal venue for sharing ideas and current thinking an new way of improving safety and maintaining a positive environmental outcomes to all stakeholders.

Jenlogix had a stand there in the venue, along with many other suppliers and industry groups. On the stand with Keith Swasbrook from Jenlogix was Dr. Ding Cheng the on staff structural engineer from San-lien in Taiwan.

This was a great opportunity for Jenlogix to meet with many of their current clients and make some great contacts in the power generation, water storage and engineering sectors during the 3-day event.

Dr. Ding Chen is a consultant in the San Lien Technology Corp., Taiwan, who has received a Ph.D. degree in civil engineering from University of Texas at Austin. He has been an associate professor at Environmental Information and Engineering Dept., Chung Cheng Institute of Technology, National Defence University, Taiwan.  He has also been the department head of Environmental Information and Engineering Dept. during 2008-2010.

Jenlogix design, configure, source, build and assemble systems, including industrial computers, embedded systems, data entry / acquisition devices, communications servers and a variety of display technologies for heavy industrial / agricultural environments and also for less rugged commercial environments.

Ding Chen’s area of expertise is in Structural Health Monitoring, Earthquake Engineering, Impact and Explosion and Blast-resistant Design. Experience also includes structural analysis of bridges and dams. Dr Ding worked as a consulting engineer on Taipei 101 –the tallest building in the world from 2004 -2010.
