Last month Exhibition Hire’s Show Lighting and Power team delivered new staging decks, draping, truss, power and lighting to the whole event of the SeePort festival. Ports of Auckland’s SeePort Festival is a three-day celebration of Auckland City’s beautiful waterfront and rich maritime heritage, and this family-friendly festival is one of New Zealand’s largest free events, which returned this year for its seventh year of seaside fun.
People were invited behind the red fence over Auckland Anniversary weekend to check out the port as Captain Cook and Marsden Wharves were transformed into a bustling summer festival, featuring carnival rides, boat sailings, helicopter rides, delicious food, virtual-reality, simulators, tours, music and entertainment on and off the water.
Keeping up the festival theme, Exhibition Hire’s Show lighting and power team also delivered to the Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival down on Captain Cook Wharf at the end of last month. The story of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland and the waka that sailed here took centre stage celebrating its Māori heritage through the Tāmaki Herenga Waka Festival. For the first time since its inaugural year in 2016, the Festival featured both land and water performances that went on into the night, as well as storytelling that captured the region’s rich waka history which shaped the Tāmaki Makaurau we know and love today.
