Titirangi based digital TV retailer Freeviewshop launched its business in 2006 introducing online buying of digital TV equipment to the New Zealand market with pledges of supplying the best quality and range available. The Freeviewshop.co.nz website which offers a unique product range along with detailed installation advice is now celebrating success, announced as the winner of the Unitec Innovation in Business Award category of the 2009 Waitakere Business Awards.

The company founder, Lars Wahlmann emphasises that “the launch of Freeview has meant that more New Zealander's can enjoy the benefits of crystal clear, digital TV. Freeviewshop wants to get the message out there that all New Zealanders can access digital TV and it does not have to cost a fortune”. With the New Zealand DIY attitude in mind, Freeviewshop’s aim is clear, to provide the equipment and help for everyone to install Freeview and start receiving digital TV.

Lars explains that “the demand for new technology is certainly here but you have to make sure you offer quality products at good prices. You also need excellent customer service – our customers are really impressed by our unique products and technical knowledge”.

The Waitakere Business Awards celebrate outstanding performance and continued growth with the Unitec Innovation in Business category recognizing organizations that understand the importance of innovation for company growth. Lars said “Freeivewshop is thrilled to be announced as the winner of the award, this is a fantastic achievement and a great recognition of our focus on innovation in product and design along with our commitment to customer driven quality policy”. The judges commented upon the: "systematic design and innovation process that drives an improved range of product offerings, which meet customers needs in a way that the standard offering does not”.

Two of Freeviewshop’s most recent product launches are the UltraPlus F9000HD Personal Video Recorder (PVR), a twin tuner Satellite HD PVR that can simultaneously record two programs while you watch another and the Magic TV MTV3600 HD PVR, a new twin tuner digital terrestrial receiver offering ease of use and high end recording features. Magic TV is capable of upscaling all programming right up to 1080P and is also capable of setting series recordings allowing you to catch entire series and more.
