Helen Clark has just agreed to meet Al Jazeera television’s Riz Khan in his renown profile series “One on One” this Sunday, October 3. The 30 minute interview will simulcast on New Zealand sister channels Triangle and Stratos Television at 8.30pm the same day.

Khan will talk to Miss Clark, Administrator of the United Nations Development Programme, about her work as the third highest UN officer. The former Prime Minister of New Zealand was appointed to the role in April 2009. She is also the Chair of the United Nations Development Group, a committee consisting of the heads of all UN funds, programmes and departments working on development issues.

Rhiz Khan worked for the BBC and CNN before joining Al Jazeera. He hosted the news bulletin that launched BBC World Service Television News in 1991. After presenting there for two years he was poached by CNN for its own international channel and became a senior anchor for the network’s global news shows and special events.

In 1996 he launched his interactive interview show on CNN, Q&A with Riz Khan, and he has conducted hundreds of interviews with guests including the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan, former US Presidents Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton, the Dalai Lama and Nelson Mandela to name a few. Since joining Al Jazeera he has maintained access to the world’s movers and shakers.
