Allergy-sufferers believe that vacuuming will help relieve their allergy symptoms. Ordinary vacuum cleaners, however, simply collect mold, dust, dust mite feces and animal dander and then expel it back into the home, aggravating the very allergy symptoms they were meant to relieve. People who suffer from allergies require an efficient vacuum cleaner with special filtration capabilities to clear dust from the environment. Nilfisk advanced vacuum cleaners fill this requirement, effectively removing particles that cause allergies, asthma and respiratory ailments.

The Nilfisk Family Vac eliminates 99.97 percent of all particles through the use of three filters, trapping dust in the vacuum cleaner rather than releasing it back into the home. The majority of particles are captured by the two-ply cellulose bag, while the main cotton filter retains 99.8 percent of particles down to the size of 3 microns. Finally, the High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filter traps 99.97 percent of particles as small as .3 microns. These filters are specifically designed to capture bacteria, smoke and pollen.

Models in the Nilfisk Extreme range contain HEPA H14 filters, which effectively trap 99.999% of particles as small as 0.3 micrometers. While a liter of air in a standard living room contains 100,000 particles, air expelled through a HEPA H14 filter holds only five particles per liter. This reduction of particle concentration is crucial in reducing irritation for allergy-sufferers.

Nilfisk Extreme range models present another benefit for people with sensitive lungs, and that is the Active Air Refresher/Active Carbon Filter. This oxygen-treated charcoal filter traps gases, particles and odors without the use of ozone. The carbon filter is a standard feature of the Extreme X300 and is an optional addition to other Extreme range models.

For those on a somewhat smaller budget, the Nilfisk Power P40 provides an ideal allergy-friendly solution for picking up pet hair and dust. Its HEPA H12 filter and turbo brush effectively remove allergy irritants from the home environment.

Nilfisk vacuum cleaners, made in Denmark for over 100 years, are employed by NASA to remove microscopic particles in the cargo bay before space shuttle take-off. The non-profit European Centre for Allergy Research Foundation, or ECARF, has awarded The Nilfisk Group the ECARF seal of quality for allergy prevention in recognition of the ultrafine filtration capabilities of its machines.
