With just over a week to go until Semi-Permanent kicks off in Auckland, organisers are excited to announce a new speaker joining their stellar line-up – Portrait artist, Bec Winnel; as well as an exclusive meet & greet/signing event with POPaganda artist, Ron English.

Bec, who will join the Saturday schedule, is a full time artist and commercial illustrator whose artworks are often dreamy in appearance, created with a subdued pastel colour pallet. She is best known for her portraits of young women, frequently accompanied by elements of nature and a bygone era, and inspired by the human soul, beauty, nature and nostalgia.

Meanwhile Ron English fans now have the opportunity to meet and greet the man himself at an evening with Ron English on Wednesday 16 May. One of the most prolific and recognizable artists alive today, Ron English will be available for a chat and exclusive signing of his purchased Limited Edition Prints at Webb’s Gallery in Newmarket.

Ron has bombed the global landscape with unforgettable images, on the street, in museums, in movies, books and television. Coining the term ‘POPaganda’ to describe his signature mash-up of high and low cultural touchstones, Ron is best known for his vast and constantly growing arsenal of original characters, including MC Supersized, the obese fast-food mascot featured in the hit movie “Supersize Me,” and Abraham Obama, the fusion of America’s 16th and 44th Presidents, an image widely discussed in the media as directly impacting the 2008 election.
