Winter on the approachYes the snow is coming! So far this May there has hardly been a week go by without a cold front and a bit of the white stuff. Of course this is a mix of both exciting and frustrating. Not enough to play in properly BUT certainly enough to get excited about! The image below was taken on Monday 28th after a chilly night.

If the looming winter has you rethinking your need to ski then quickly jump online and catch the final day (31st May) of discounted Season Pass's at http://www.treblecone.com/Passes-and-Rentals/Season-Passes.asp It will also be your last chance to get your hands on the Five Day Powder Pass at $429! These were a super popular option last year where on average, each person skied 6 days and couldn't resist topping up at the reduced daily rate. That shows they definitley received full value.

Plan your 2012 Ski Trip! Now is the time to get excited and plan and budget your skiing holiday. First up find your TCpass from last year. Even if you are only planning on a few days you can reload your TCpass online at https://mercury.intouch-usa.com/webpoint/wp.dll?Axis/TCPass and avoid queues at ticketing and go straight to lift.

And now your TCpass is part of the OnePassNZ at http://www.onepassnz.com/ world covering Treble Cone, Cardrona, SnowParkNZ, Snow Farm, Ohau, Roundhill, Mt Dobson and Porters. This means you can plan and budget for your holiday in advance and head to any of the areas at the drop of a hat depending on all those factors that rule travel - snow conditions, weather and the whims of everyone in the group! OnePassNZ also allows you to use the value loaded on your card at over 40 activities and services clustered around the ski areas. No stress and true flexibility.

Trail Map updateThis year we are really happy to present a new trail map. Whether or not you ski Treble Cone as a seasonaire or occasionally, you will have passed those people on the slope exclaiming in dispair that "the Treble Cone blue runs was MUCH harder then normal!" We understand that the lie of the land on our dear mountain can be a tad intimidating and while we can't (and don't want to) change it, we can do our very best to make it easier to navigate for visitors! This year we have introduced "red" representing "advanced" grading to our trails. This takes the pressure off many of the orginial "blue" labelled runs that might have been stretching it for the true intermediate skier and snowboarder. "Red" now fills the gap that needed bridging between intermediate and "black" expert areas and marks a clear progression for those exploring for the first time. To support this we have also marked all groomed (snow allowing!) trails with long coloured lines to indicate where they go. All offpiste areas are indicated simply with their names marked in the appropriate colour.

Another exciting addition is we have mapped the Motatapu Chutes!! You can check out larger images of the maps here at http://treblecone.com/Mountain-Information/Trail-Map.asp

Cheers and look forward to seeing you up at TC soon. Continue to reminisce on your 2011 season with our Vimeo channel at http://vimeo.com/treblecone and Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/treblecone
