The vision for this space is to attract theatre goers to enjoy excellent food and beverage pre and post-show to accompany and enhance the Isaac Theatre Royal's existing hospitality operations. This is a unique and exciting opportunity for an excellent hospitality operator to buy the lesehold interest (business).

Isaac Theatre Royal is keen to work alongside the eventual tenant to align businesses so that the new restaurant/bar will effectively act as an extension to the theatre’s operations and street frontage by providing a mid to high end food & beverage service in an environment that compliments the design and splendour of the Isaac Theatre Royal’s interior.

The thoughts for cuisine should be based on ‘small plates’ menu items, priced competitively that enables quick but efficient service. Ideally plates priced between $12-18 each, with the view that patrons of the theatre can enjoy various plates with an exclusive wine, beer, spirits and cocktails list to accompany. The view to being able to dine pre-show within approx. 60-70 minutes and potentially return to the bar after the theatre performance has finished.

Isaac Theatre Royal provides an excellent bar & refreshment service during performances but this is primarily an interval service with some pre-show patronage as well on specific events. Post-show however, there has never been a demand for our bars to stay open, we feel the restaurant space will create that additional business post-show and also relieve some of the pre-show pressure in the foyers before the doors to the auditorium are opened.

As the theatre bars primarily sell poured wines & bubbly, beers and RTD spirit pre-mixes, as well as a barista coffee service plus a very productive ice-cream and sweets service, the new theatre restaurant can provide the style of service that our own bar and shop services cannot accomplish due to pure time restrictions i.e. fine wines, cocktails, poured spirits.

The eventual tenant will also be included in the theatre’s list of ‘preferred caterers’ for functions within the theatre itself as well as the new multi-function space directly over the new restaurant property.

The restaurant fit-out should be plush and elegant to compliment the look & feel of the theatre foyers, with elegant lighting and a warm and inviting interior. The theatre will also supply the tenant with existing framed posters from previous shows over the years at the Isaac Theatre Royal, to add an element of showmanship to the restaurant. www.tourismproperties.co.nz
