Winter Games NZ is one of three finalists in the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards for Commercial Partnership.

Winter Games NZ has made the shortlist in recognition of its successful partnership with Tourism New Zealand in the 2011 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games which took place last August.

The 100% Pure New Zealand Winter Games 2011 was a very positive and successful event for New Zealand. It is a highly innovative event and with plans for 2013 already well underway, it is fast becoming New Zealand's iconic sports event.

Due to its short history it was critical that Winter Games NZ find a partner who could deliver value to the Games in terms of marketing reach, international credibility and relevant expertise as well as be a natural fit with the event. Tourism NZ with its 100% Pure New Zealand brand met all these requirements and the result was an event that delivered on all fronts including over 1,400 elite athletes and management and a far-reaching international media presence, together with a major economic impact.

The way the 100% message was integrated in to all Winter Games promotional material, its website and marketing messages was especially successful.

This is not the first year Winter Games NZ has been recognised by the SPARC Awards. Winter Games NZ 2009 won the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Events Award in 2010.

Every year individuals and organisations throughout the country are making outstanding contributions to the sport and recreation sector. Through their vision and determination they are raising standards and breaking new ground for the benefit of the stakeholders they serve. The purpose of the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards is to recognise and celebrate these successes, to share best practice and inspire excellence.

The Awards will be announced on 30 April at the New Zealand Sport and Recreation Awards dinner in Rotorua. For further information, visit www.wintergamesnz.com or www.sportrecawards.org.nz.
