Marcus Armstrong, the son of Rick Armstrong (CEO and founder of Armstrong Motor Group) won the Denny Hulme Trophy in Taupo at the fourth round of the Castrol Toyota Racing Series at Bruce McLaren Motorsport Park, Taupo.

Marcus had been a main contender for the title from his first win in the series at Ruapuna Park, Christchurch

Armstrong got the best start from the outside row of the grid and was never overtaken throughout the race, but was hunted down by Jehan Daruvala of India who ended up off the track from taking one too many risks.

“I led and then made a mistake,” said Armstrong. “At least I learned from that and proved I could win from the front.”

Armstrong’s win in Taupo brought him up to fourth place; one point ahead of Daruvala having gained more points than anybody else over the three races at Taupo.

The final three races were held at the Chris Amon circuit, Manfeild, seeing Armstrong finish as the top kiwi in fourth place overall with Daruvala falling in fifth behind him.
