As more businesses introduce vehicles into their team of assets, the fleet management industry is growing rapidly, and the forecast shows no signs of it pushing on its brakes anytime soon. Fleet management is what many companies are using to reduce the risks associated with investing in a large number of vehicles. It promotes efficiency, productivity, and reduces overall costs by tracking vehicles using advanced GPS software.

The fleet management industry is growing worldwide. In the fourth quarter of 2016, the number of active fleet management systems set up in commercial vehicle fleets in Europe was 6.6 million. According to a report by M2M/IoT analyst firm Berg Insight, if this number continues to grow at a compound annual rate of 16.4%, by 2021 we’ll see 14.1 million fleet management systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets.

Due to the huge demand for fleet management systems, there are many competing companies. Johan Fagerberg, Senior Analyst from Berg Insight said, “Ten major mergers and acquisitions have taken place in the past twelve months among the vendors of fleet management systems in Europe.” This includes Dynafleet by Volvo, FleetBoard by Daimler and Scania Fleet Management.

It’s not just Europe that is obsessing over fleet tracking. Berg Insight predicts that the fleet management industry in North America will grow at a compound annual growth rate of 15%. In 2016 there were 6.7 million active fleet management systems deployed in commercial vehicle fleets, but this number is expected to reach 13.5 million by 2021. Some of the biggest fleet tracking providers in North America are Zonar Systems and Teletrac Navman.

The growth is undeniable, and in New Zealand it is no different. Tracking devices are more advanced than ever before, and now GPS tracking in vehicles is often taken for granted. As its popularity soars, costs are reduced, making fleet tracking an affordable, viable solution for Kiwi businesses. Businesses of all sizes are able to trust reliable fleet tracking software to manage their vehicles, while they focus on other things.

Argus Tracking is a provider of intelligent GPS fleet management software. They offer three great plans to choose from, ranging from a simple fleet tracking system to an all-inclusive deal that is designed to achieve optimal productivity.
