Parcelport, as its eponymous name suggests, is a parcel company, but they actually began their journey as Payport. Payport was conceived as a company, which provided payment and courier solutions. Founded in 2011, the company started off as a payment and freight tech company, but as the courier side of the business took off, the company pivoted to concentrate on the courier business and rebranded as Parcelport.

At the beginning, as ecommerce continued to grow, getting paid online and dispatching goods out to customers became a real challenge, a challenge that was taken up by Payport. Payment and freight are the two important infrastructures supporting ecommerce, and Payport was established to address these two areas.

However, as he saw the courier side of the business was booming, Payport’s founder, Jimmy Wu took the step of rebranding the company to become Parcelport. Parcelport’s point of difference is that it focuses on servicing small and medium-sized enterprises (SME) while its larger competitors focus on bigger businesses.

As the freight side of the business continued to grow, the company began to attract some very prestigious awards. They were listed as one of the 500 fastest growing technology companies in the Asia Pacific by Deloitte, and were a finalist in the Auckland Westpac Best Emerging Business Award in 2017.
