Road closures for Cycle Challenge

A number of roads around the District are temporarily closing to make way for the Contact Lake Taupō Cycle Challenge and a Bike Fest event.

Most of the roads are being closed to accommodate the more than 8,500 cyclists participating in this year’s Cycle Challenge. Any road required in the event of an emergency will be reopened for that purpose.

The following roads will be closed today:

• Tongariro Street from Spa Road to Lake Terrace from 5.00pm to 9.00pm
• Lake Terrace from Tongariro Street to Kaimanawa Street from 5.00pm to 9.00pm

 

The following roads will be closed today and Saturday 24 November:

• Tongariro Street between Tamamutu and Heuheu Streets from 1.00pm on Friday 23 November to 2.00am Saturday 24 November

 

The following roads will be closed on Saturday 24 November:

• Tongariro Street/Lake Terrace from Spa Road to Ruapehu Street from 2.00am to 6.00pm
• Lake Terrace from Mere Road to Tongariro Street from 9.30am to 5.00pm
• Poihipi Road from State Highway 1 to Marotiri Road from 6.30am to 10.30am
• Marotiri Road from Poihipi Road to State Highway 32 from 6.30am to 10.30am
• Redoubt Street from 5.00am to 4.00pm
