Home owners across New Zealand have laid down their intentions to renovate their way through 2013 and with the latest Statistics New Zealand report on the Value of Building work showing continued growth with a healthy 1.8% increase for the last quarter of 2012,  it looks like good news for tradespeople and building supplies retailers.

In a survey carried out at the end of 2012 by national tradesperson service Builderscrack.co.nz, more than 40 per cent of people who responded said they were planning to do more home renovation jobs in 2013 than in the previous 12 months.

General home maintenance, bathroom renovations, painting and outdoor projects were all high on home owners’ lists of priorities.

“We have seen huge growth in the last year with around 30% increase in jobs posted by householders and it is showing no signs of slowing down”, said Keith Roberts of Builderscrack.co.nz

“There’s more demand than ever for skilled and reliable tradespeople in all areas of the country, with high needs for Canterbury of course and some specific areas such as The Bay of Plenty, Hawkes Bay and Palmerston North where jobs are waiting now”.
