Dementia is one of New Zealand’s most significant and growing healthcare challenges, and Countdown stores across New Zealand are supporting Alzheimers New Zealand in their four week Appeal between 8 July and 4 August.

Customers can help support the Appeal through a donation at checkouts or by purchasing Countdown mixed mini and chocolate 12 pack lamingtons, with 30 cents from each sale going toward the cause.

Family and carers of people with Alzheimers can also take up free delivery for online shopping in the four week period, with a promotional code available through local Alzheimers support offices.

Countdown has partnered with Alzheimers New Zealand for more than ten years, and during this time has helped raise over $1.15m for the organisation, supporting carers and families of people living with Alzheimers with information, education, advice and support groups.

There are currently 48,000 people who suffer from Alzheimers and dementia in New Zealand and this is predicted to double over the next 20 years as the population ages.

Visit your nearest store to provide a donation through a collection box, or with Eftpos or credit card at checkouts.
