The Happiest 5k on the Planet is finally coming to New Zealand. The Color Run - an exciting and unique 5km fun run experience with a colourful twist - has been a massive hit in cities like London, Sydney and New York and will visit Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch this summer.
Inspired by paint parties and the Holi Festival, the Color Run sees runners looking like they've been struck by a rainbow after having been doused with a different brightly coloured powder (actually 100% natural food grade corn starch) at every kilometre mark.
At the end of the course there is an epic, family–friendly celebration at the Finish Festival, including mass colour throws, DJs, dance-offs and food stalls.
Color Runners can enter as individuals or teams of four or more and entry fees include an official white event T-shirt and sweat band, a temporary tattoo and a colour powder packet for use at the Finish Festival party. For those who want to clean up before they head home after the event there is even a special ‘Cleaning Zone’.
Official partners of The Color Run New Zealand, helping to make the event an experience to remember, are ZM, Resene, Telecom, New Balance and Hydr8.
Registration is open now for all three events and places are filling fast. The Color Run Auckland is already 50% filled and previous events held in Australia have sold out. So get in quick, visit www.colorrun.com today and be part of this exciting fun run phenomenon!
The Color Run was founded in the United States by Travis Snyder in January of 2012 as an event to promote healthiness and happiness by bringing the community together to participate in the “Happiest 5k on the Planet”. The Color Run is the original paint race and has created a completely new genre of running events that continues to grow exponentially, currently hosting more than 170 events in 30+ countries in 2013. The Color Run is open to all ages and abilities with a focus on fun rather than speed!
The Color Run is all about happiness, and our runners are encouraged to help spread this by running for a cause and supporting the official charity in each city. This can be done by setting up a fund-raising page on www.everydayhero.co.nz
Dates and locations for the Color Run events are as follows:
Auckland, Pukekohe Raceway, 26 January 2014
Christchurch, Canterbury Agricultural Park, 23 February 2014
Wellington, Trentham Memorial Park, 30 March 2014
