New Plymouth Dairy burglar puts ice creams down his pants and leaves

NEW PLYMOUTH

A man who has a like for sugary items is trying to be found by New Plymouth police,

Izzy's Foodbar and Takeaway on Devon Street West was smashed open at 1.30am on January 3.

Two hours later a man entered the shop stuffing ice blocks, chocolate, chewing gum and a few coins down his pants and into his pockets. 

The shop's CCTV cameras recorded the incident and footage has been provided to police, who want to speak to the man.

Owner Craig Huffam said the value of the items that were taken was not great but he was disturbed by the incident.

He urged anyone with information about the man's identity to contact police on 06 759 5500.

POLICE MAY HAVE LEADS ON MAN WITH SWEET TOOTH

New Plymouth police may have leads on one member of the public who was reported into the station by numerous members of the public, one of the 'dobbers' commented on a Taranaki Daily News Facebook post with "sorry to dob you in bro (*name*)".

However infonews.co.nz is not releasing any names because the reports can not yet be confirmed.
