Winner: Best Commercialisation of Intellectual Property in International Business supported by the Ministry of Science and Innovation - Everedge IP - Intellectual Property

Paul Adams was so successful at gathering a team of experts to commercialise a collapsible food container called CrushPak, he established a side business dedicated to helping others get their innovations to market. At the 2012 New Zealand International Business Awards, Auckland-based EverEdgeIP won the category for the country’s best commercialisation of intellectual property.

Paul Adams started EverEdgeIP to commercialise an inventor’s collapsible food container, CrushPak.

It was a brilliant innovation, but Adams says, contrary to conventional Kiwi wisdom, a brilliant idea is not the most important ingredient of a successful export.

“Commercialisation has a lot more to do with how you commercialise, than what you commercialise. The idea is important but what actually makes the difference to whether you succeed or fail is how you commercialise.”
