De Laval in January installed its biggest-ever under one roof robotic milking process in the world on a South Canterbury dairy farm.
It operates in a 1500 cow barn. The automation centres on an at-will milking regime based on the demand from the farmer – and the animal.
The 1500 cow barn and its automation has been in the process of commissioning since the end of 2014.
The computer network was customised for the barn with six PCs installed for 24 robots, as opposed to the usual one PC for up to eight robots. This customisation allows all users to access the same database
