One of New Zealand’s most successful businesswomen, Theresa Gattung, is set to champion other female entrepreneurs with her appointment as Chair of business support organisation Co.OfWomen.

Ms. Gattung is renowned for her strong business acumen having headed up Telecom (now known as Spark) at the age of 37. Her most recent business venture is as a co-founder and Director of the multimillion-dollar My Food Bag business.

“I’ve always been a strong advocate for women in business so Co.OfWomen is a natural fit. I see some of the biggest barriers for female entrepreneurs as getting the right support team around them and actually asking for help. Co.OfWomen does just that by surrounding them with relevant, trustworthy champions and programmes that build commercial confidence, minimise business risk and ensure momentum. I’m excited about my new role as Chair and I’m looking forward to helping strengthen our female entrepreneurs,” said Ms Gattung.

The Co.OfWomen is a female entrepreneur business support organisation that launched in 2012 and has quickly grown to a community of more than 1,700. The organisation is developed and lead by experienced, successful entrepreneurs in order to champion success, so is distinguished by a real world focus.

In addition to Ms Gattung’s appointment as Chair, two more talented business women are joining the Co.OfWomen board. Restaurant entrepreneur Mimi Gilmour, the brains behind popular restaurant chains Mexico and Burger Burger, and Tax expert and astute business adviser Jo Doolan (whose appointment is effective July 1) will bring the board to a formidable force of eight.

Theresa, Mimi and Jo will add even further strength to what is already an impressive board with other successful female entrepreneurs including; Wynnis Armour, Sharon Hunter, Sarah Paykel, Rannjna Patel, and Co.OfWomen founder,Tara Lorigan.

“We are very fortunate to have such an incredible caliber of successful business women on the board which is testament to the impressive vision and practical difference they see Co.OfWomen makes” noted Tara.  “Theresa, Mimi and Jo are tremendous additions to our board and will be able to assist and help facilitate the significant growth plans we have,” she added.

The announcements of the new appointments to the Board coincide with the launch of Women Entrepreneurs Week (wew) which runs from Monday 7th March to Friday 11th March. The week provides a platform to champion female entrepreneurial success and includes a number of initiatives facilitated by Co.OfWomen including; major events in Auckland, Wellington (8th March) and Christchurch (9th March); The launch of a new programme aimed at propelling the second stage of business growth called insightOUT; the launch of a magazine called ‘co.’ (company) a high quality digital publication built on the ‘by business owners, for business owners’ model, made available free to women to champion their success.
