WaterSafe Auckland is delighted to announce the appointment of Jonathon Webber to the position of Chief Executive Officer.

Currently a WaterSafe Auckland Board Member, Jonathon brings considerable experience and knowledge of drowning prevention and the water safety sector, from the coalface, to research, policy and practice, at a national and international level.

Among his numerous roles, Jonathon is an Advanced Qualified Lifeguard, an Honorary Lecturer in the Department of Anaesthesiology at the University of Auckland, represents Surf Life Saving New Zealand on the New Zealand Resuscitation Council, and is a member of the International Life Saving Federation Medical Committee. He has also authored and co-authored several journal articles, textbook chapters and national surf lifesaving policies.

WaterSafe Auckland Chair Denise Atkins welcomes the appointment of Jonathon to this crucial leadership role within the water safety sector.

“As a long standing Board Member, Jonathon brings a deep understanding of the organisation, which, along with his sector background, will prove invaluable as he leads us through the next phase of our journey toward a water safe Auckland free from drowning,” she says.

Jonathon takes up this new role in May 2016 and is looking forward to working together with partners across the wider Auckland region and water safety sector, to help reduce drowning and build water safety competency, across schools, communities and workplaces; encompassing education, research and business, said Denise.
