Ozzie band The Midnight Juggernauts had Auckland’s urban hipsters rocking out last night as they hit the stage for an explosive set at the ‘V’ Block Party, supported by Christchurch band Pig Out.

Over 2500 people gathered in Britomart Square for the ‘V’ Block Party; the first event of its kind to be held in Auckland.

Inspired by similar Block Parties that originated in New York City, the aim was to stage a unique community event to bring the people of Auckland together to celebrate great live music.

“We’re just buzzing from the success of the ‘V’ Block Party. It was great to see so many young people out enjoying themselves and listening to free live music. We hope this will set the pace for future events. We have been amazed by the response of the people to our current campaign The People’s Republic of V and the opportunity it has given our customers to tell us what they want and what drives them,” says V Brand Manager Jo Turner.

The People’s Republic of ‘V’ will run throughout the summer with a number of fun and exciting events happening around the country. Check out www.vrepublic.co.nz for the latest updates.
