Return to Paradise Resort & Spa – Fire Dancers Scoop National Awards

Return to Paradise dancers have won all three National titles at the 16th International Siva Afi (fire knife) finals held at the Samoa Tourism Association fale in Apia on Saturday night. With talent from as far away as Florida, the competition was fierce as each battled for the title of King of the Afi for 2017.

All awards were presented by the Prime Minister - Honorable Prime Minister, Susuga Tuilaepa Sailele Malielegaoi
Han Matagi – winner of the National Junior title
Alema & Lene Alema (brothers) winners of the doubles title
Lene Alema - winner of the National title
Alema Alema – runner up National title

 “We are very proud of our boys,” said Resort General Manager Ramona Su’a Pale. “The international standard of fire knife dancing is very high, and to win every award on offer was just amazing. We would also like to congratulate all the other competitors -as to master this traditional art takes years of practice and dedication”
