Please Observe The Dannevirke And Akitio Liquor Bans

Dannevirke’s liquor ban, now into its third summer has been welcomed by the town’s newly arrived senior sergeant of police.


“Liquor bans are a great tool. They work wherever they are introduced”, Senior Sergeant Revill-Johnson formerly from South Auckland, said.


It was pleasing that no one had been arrested for abusing the ban in the three weeks since he had arrived, he said.


A liquor ban will continue at Akitio beach starting from 12 noon on Christmas Eve and continuing to January 3.


The council asks that beach visitors and residents observe the by-law which prohibits people from carrying alcohol in a public place.


Signs will be in place to enforce the by-law.
