The Wardrobe Company was started in September 1991, and Darel began working as a designer for the company in 2000, part time, while her children were small.  She later became full time, then she and Greg, her husband, bought into the business in 2007. She became a director and split her time between designing and business management. 

 

During this time the business incorporated the Auckland side of the business into the already successful North Harbour section, and these two companies continue to be run concurrently from the same office. During the amalgamation of the two businesses, many of the existing Auckland staff were brought to the North Shore, and their Operations Manager and one of their senior installers are still with them. 

 

In July 2014 they rebranded and The Wardrobe Company name came into being, again, with the two company structure, The Wardrobe Company Auckland and The Wardrobe Company North Harbour.  The Auckland company services the area from Pukekohe to the Harbour Bridge, east and west to Piha/Titirangi.  The North Harbour company services from the Harbour Bridge to Waipu in the north, east and west to Muriwai and Henderson.

 

All their installers are directly employed, not on contracts, so the client can be confident they are reliable and trustworthy, and two of their design staff have been with them seven years and four and a half years respectively.  They now have two new younger designers on board just to keep the ideas fresh and relevant, and the support staff have been with them since 2008.
