Auckland’s growing population and cost of living leaves much to be desired. For many it has become common to flirt with the idea of moving to the regions. You’ll find yourself dreaming of a less frantic life, with the opportunity to buy a house with backyard, and actually getting to know your neighbours. However dreams and realities often don’t mix. You may fear leaving your job, friends & family behind, and struggle to navigate through the new town. You're allowed to have your concerns but keep in mind the positives when considering where to plant your roots for your life and your family’s lives.

A huge benefit of more rural living is cheaper living costs. It may be the most obvious, but it definitely makes it a whole lot more enticing when you receive your latest rates bill! The lower cost of living in most regions is something you’ll be able to brag to all your city friends about. Whether you’re renting or looking at buying a property, it’ll be substantially cheaper than the big city. If you were to look at buying a 3 bedroom house in Auckland (specifically Manukau City) the average price is $600,000. But if you were to move to Palmerston North, 3 bedroom houses are generally goin for $300,000 to $400,000. Even renting in the same areas can be a $200 difference between the big city and the regions. But there’s more to it than just the cost of your home. Your groceries, your insurance, and what you’ll spend on a day out is cheaper. With all that money saved you’ll have greater ability to make changes in your life, whether you buy a business, or follow a passion.

Speaking of following a passion, moving away from the big city can give you time to discover one if you haven’t already. Without all the big city distractions, you’ll be able to find the well needed time to dedicate to a hobby or passion. Living in the city usually means a jam-packed schedule where you find yourself at trivial events that distract you from what you really want to be doing. If you moved to somewhere like Napier for example, you’d be able to find time to work on your passion project; whether it’s improving your gardening skills, getting your project car road legal, or even just spending time out on the water mastering your angler abilities. Places like Whangarei are far less busy, so you won’t be stuck in traffic meaning you get more time in the evening to enjoy how you want.

Going from the big fish to the small pond, you may find more success in a career of your choice. With less competition you’ll be able to stand out amongst the rest. If you’ve ever considered buying a franchise to kickstart a career; moving to the regions and signing up with Crewcut might be for you. There could be a business for sale in Palmerston North, Kerikeri, Napier, or Whangarei with your name on it. And that’s only a small part of the North Island. There are plenty of opportunities to buy a franchise in other parts of the North Island and South Island. Get in contact with Crewcut to make your move to the regions.
