Project, a national hip-hop dance competition for New Zealand’s youth, is back in its 9th year to see young hip hop dance crews across the country battle it out at ASB Arena, Bay of Plenty on the 2nd and 3rd of June.

Project is sure to be a jam-packed weekend with free dance workshops headed up by the five Project judges and young school students and dancers competing across both days. On Saturday, the 2nd of June, the entry-level dance competition will be divided into four separate divisions: Primary, intermediate, Secondary and Mega School crews.

On Sunday, the 3rd of June, elite level crews from all over New Zealand battle it out for over $5,000 in prize money in four separate open division: Junior, Varsity, Adult and Mega Crews.

Several hip hop dance crews from Neverland Studios will be competing at Project this year on Sunday, namely: TRIBE, KHAOS, BOSS, MIDAS, FRENZY and BEAST.

Last year, TRIBE took out the Gold trophy for the Varsity division, and they’ll be looking to defend their highly-coveted first place position from other New Zealand hip hop crews. 2017 saw 91 crews of all ages from all over New Zealand battle it out on stage, so this year is sure to attract even more Kiwi dancing talent.

Neverland Studios has two dance studios Auckland wide in Albany (North) and Howick (East), providing classes for different dance styles, including jazz, hip hop and ballet classes. The Neverland Nation crews have been actively participating both in the national and international competitive dance scene, constantly making their mark wherever they go.
