Hannah McQueen of enableMe reveals that financial problems are now considered to be the #1 cause of relationship breakdown, making them an important element to address in relationships but one which is usually overlooked. You would hardly vet your future spouse based on their attitude to debt and spending - but in some ways, you probably should!

"It's what my grandmother used to say," says Hannah, “When money worries come in the front door, love tends to fly out the window”,

Hannah has spoken widely about ‘financial infidelity’ and wrote a recent column on stating, “Financial infidelity is replacing sexual infidelity as a leading cause of relationship breakdowns. It's when people lie to their partners or deceive them about money”.

As a financial personal trainer for more than a decade, Hannah has seen numerous instances of financial infidelity, and many are not the result of illicit spending, but the couple not being in control of their money and one partner not being engaged or aware of their financial position. They don't want to know what tax or debt they owe, preferring to pretend that not knowing means debt doesn't exist and there is no need to discuss it.

Hannah says financial infidelity doesn't need to destroy a relationship when both admit they are capable of doing better - and actually do better, and at enableMe, they consider the entire financial health of their clients and work alongside them in creating a clear financial structure and plan that will see them achieve their financial goals as quickly as possible. From budgeting, spending analysis and recommendations, diagnosing clients’ psychology of spending and overcoming natural spending tendencies, Hannah and her team will work through their clients’ individual financial problems.

As Hannah says, “Money is complex and emotional; often a sounding board outside the relationship is needed and in many cases the ‘financial dynamic’ is outsourced to their financial personal trainer”.

Before undertaking any work Hannah will meet with you for a financial consultation, the purpose of this meeting being to work out where you are right now financially, where you want to be, and whether in doing what you currently are doing you will actually get to be where you want to be.  So for more information on financial advisors Auckland, financial advisors NZ and financial advisors Wellington please go to http://enableme.co.nz .
