June 15, 2018 – A Lottoland customer in Germany last week won a EuroJackpot top prize of €90 million (NZ$151 million) – a world record for the online gaming industry.

The winner of the huge prize was a 36-year old cleaner from Berlin, who wished to be identified only as Christina. Christina found out that she had won the life changing jackpot while working on her late night cleaning shift, and was stunned.

“I couldn’t believe it!” she said. “I’m still in shock, to be honest! It’s a lot to take in, but I’m so happy to finally be able to look after my mum and the rest of my family.”

She had only signed up to Lottoland via her phone two weeks before winning the prize, and won €8.60 on her first bet. This inspired her to use the Lottoland app to enter EuroJackpot last week, with the help of her mother who picked her lucky numbers.

When asked what she would be doing with the winnings, Christina told Lottoland that she was planning on quitting her cleaning job, and her mother would also be able to retire immediately. Christina also said that she’s already planning her dream holiday to the US, where she will hire a motor home and travel across the country, all the way from the East to the West coast.

The €90 million jackpot was a world record for the most money won online, and was Lottoland’s biggest pay-out to date. It was won through the EuroJackpot, a European lottery that New Zealanders can enter through the Lottoland website and app – alongside many other international jackpots including the US Powerball and MegaMillions draws.
