BOAM, the Bitcoin Open Air Market was organised by MyCryptoSaver, which took place on Monday 21 May, from 6-9pm at 101 Pakenham Street West, Auckland. This was New Zealand’s first Bitcoin Open Air Market, a dedicated space for Kiwis to learn about Bitcoin and buy/sell small amounts of it off each other, as well as socialise and chat about all things crypto!

BOAM is geared towards Bitcoin beginners, and this was an event for people to ‘dip their toes’ in the water of cryptocurrency. It is not designed for people to make money, but to interact with Bitcoin in a very real/tangible way.

The evening kicked off with a introductory talk about what Bitcoin is, its history, its benefits and best practices to buying, selling and storing Bitcoin. From there they had a live Bitcoin price ticker with some Bitcoin experts on hand to help anyone setup a Bitcoin wallet and help make a successful Bitcoin trade.

For those who didn’t have any Bitcoin and wanted to purchase a small amount in person, they were invited to go along with a smartphone, a $20, $50 or $100 note (max $100) and buy their first Bitcoin! For those who had some Bitcoin and wanted to sell it in person, they were asked to please go along with their Bitcoin wallet, but were advised that there was a $100 limit on each trade.

Some people simply went along to watch some trades, solialise and have some crypto fun. It was a very friendly and relaxing night, giving people the opportunity to access this revolutionary technology and help grow Bitcoin uptake in New Zealand.

GRID AKL is a fantastic space in the city that embraces innovation and startups, so for more information on bitcoin wallets, buying bitcoin in New Zealand and bitcoin saving please go to https://mycryptosaver.com/ .
