SHARE encourages Kiwis to make most of positive KiwiSaver returns

August 24, 2018 – After a tough start to the year with little growth, reports emerging at the end of July indicated KiwiSaver returns bounced back across the board in the April to June quarter, with Aggressive funds posting returns of up to 7.04 percent in this period.
According to financial experts Morningstar, funds invested in New Zealand and Australian equities were the most profitable, while a drop in the NZ dollar meant that global equities also provided significant returns. This meant that Balanced and Growth-orientated funds saw the most comparative success over the quarter, with top performing multisector funds in each of these categories returning 5.50 and 5.85 percent respectively, while the top performing Aggressive fund, Booster’s Geared Growth, achieved 7.04 percent growth.
While these positive results across the board were a return to form for KiwiSaver funds after a period of relative downturn earlier in the year, this trend is predicted to continue on throughout the year, spurred on by a relatively low-performing NZ dollar and general investment confidence.
