Outdoor advertising industry is gaining popularity around the country and companies like BigaVision are installing video walls in busy traffic corners. The company provides big screen rentals to businesses that can be used in awkward and difficult sites.

BigaVision create big screens for small and large events. The company can install LED video walls. Screens can be rented or purchased, and they can provide full installation.  Based in the Central North Island, they can easily service the Manawatu, Wellington, Hawkes Bay, Taupo, Hamilton, Tarananki regions.  They have successfully installed a P10 DIP LED billboard conversion, on a corner site in Hamilton. On Auckland’s Sandringham Road the company has used P15.75 mesh board on a tricky access with a complete site build and installation. In New Plymouth they converted a static billboard to digital with a P10 full colour screen

Electronic advertising screens are so popular that recently Australian taxi fleet management company P2P Transport is investing millions of dollars in creating a secondary revenue stream for the business, tapping into the demand for outdoor advertising. The company will pay Telstra $17 million over three years for the telco to provide the hardware and network services required to enable real-time, targeted advertising to be displayed digitally on 900 P2P vehicles.

The out-of-home, or outdoor, advertising industry has been growing strongly in Australia, with IBISWorld figures showing an annualised growth rate of 8.2 per cent over the past five years. Major industry player APN Outdoor is being taken over by French giant JCDecaux for $1.2 billion, equivalent to 12.9 time earnings.

P2P chief executive Tom Varga told The Australian Financial Review he was hopeful this new advertising division could account for 25-30 per cent of revenue in a few years. "This opens up another organic revenue stream," he said. "We have vehicles on the road that we're renting to drivers and generating income, but now we'll have 900 vehicles with digital advertising on top of the them.

"It's a proprietary solution developed over 2½ to three years of research and we've tested everything under the sun. We've tested it for the heat issues commonly associated with LCD screens and we've taken on the advertisers' perspective about the design and the quality.
