Auckland-based Palm Clinic use Surgitron - a quick, safe and easy way to fix moles of cosmetic concern. People who have moles on their face and body that they are not happy with will find Surgitron is a great way to get rid of moles, with the smallest possible risk of leaving a scar.

Palm Clinic is an Auckland’s specialist centre that has been treating varicose veins and performing aesthetic procedures for over 20 years.   It also has a large range of non-surgical treatments like laser treatments, Botox and fillers.

Surgitron shaves the mole off, instead of cutting it, as in the traditional technique. This means less damage to the skin, and thereby less risk of a scar. Moles which are flat are not suitable for removal with Surgitron.

Warts can also be removed with this method. The process of removing warts is different from that of removing skin tags or moles – the skin surface is broken so the base of the wart can be sealed. These wounds typically take four to six weeks to heal. Most people are able to continue their usual daily activities within a few days and the wounds are generally not painful. There is usually some scarring. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthetic, so other than a short sting, it is painless. There is little to no discomfort following the procedure.

Surgitron also has the benefit of not requiring sutures. The wound heals very quickly. In most cases, the wound left from Surgitron on the face will heal within one week. It is dressed for around one week and dressed patients are advised not to expose the wound to bugs. This means avoiding swimming in spas/pools or the sea over this time.  The alternative is surgical excision. This requires sutures and carries a greater risk of leaving a scar.

Palm Clinic recommends a general skin check for cancer before Surgitron treatment.  If they have any concerns that a mole may be an early skin cancer it is removed surgically and sent to the laboratory for histological analysis.
