Modern vintage luxury has transitioned from the runway to the bathroom, with renovators relishing the detail and character that this glamorous look brings to the bathing space. Since 1873 Kohler has been leading the way with design and innovation for bathrooms and kitchens. Turning the functional into desirable, pieces become stylish works of art in the home.

With modern vintage, it’s all in the detail - and the finish. Intricate styling, curvaceous shapes and beautiful finishes - think oil-rubbed bronze, vibrant brushed bronze and sparkling polished chrome – are key to the look.

Kohler, the global bathroom specialist, has created a themed approach to modern vintage with coordinated tapware and accessories in its Artifacts collection teamed with the Reve freestanding cast iron bath and matching toilet. The jewel of the look is the basin – and Kohler presents several to choose from. Highlights are the Derring Wading Pool, the Conical Bell Vessel and the Vintage Undercounter.

While remaining true to the beautiful vintage style, in design and materials, Kohler has been clever in ensuring consumers have a wide choice within the retro genre. The Artifacts tapware comes in a choice of single lever and three-piece set plus a dedicated bath set with lever handles. Shower mixers are available with and without diverter and there is a dedicated wall mount bath spout.

The Artifacts accessories – towel bars, robe books, toilet paper holders and towel rings – all feature exactly the same styling as the tapware and come in the same three finishes – oil-rubbed bronze, vibrant brushed bronze and polished chrome.

Basins and freestanding baths are often the statement piece of the bathroom and Kohler’s selection for the vintage aesthetic steal the show. The Reve cast iron bath is an architectural masterpiece, cleverly melding the traditional materials and craftsmanship of more than a century ago. The result is a contemporary, streamlined bath that is deeply luxurious and richly detailed with geometric, faceted lines, a wider back ledge for generous storage and an elevated plinth to increase the ‘statement’ of the piece.

For true artisanal craftsmanship Kohler has included the Derring ceramic Wading Pool self-rimming basin. This is a study in textural beauty that cleverly combines a rarely used rutile mineral glaze with hand crafted pattern to create a palette of ever changing, light reflective neutral tones.

The Briolette faceted glass vessel is a study in elegant, light-reflecting glass facets that will create a focal point in any bathroom. The basin can be teamed with either a counter-top single lever mixer or a wall- mounted mixer set. Kohler is proud to stand by their quality tapware. All their tapware range is Watermark certified for the Australasian market and is produced to high standards.
