JOYN is an Auckland-based recruitment company that connects businesses with freelancers specialising in human resources and recruitment services. Since their formalisation as JOYN in April of 2017, the company has hit five hundred clients. According to Jonathan Rice, co-founder and co-director of JOYN, this is a major milestone for the company, and they intend to continue along the path of improvement.
Interestingly, JOYN was not always the name of the company. It has seen a lot of evolution over the years, and according to them, their start was technically in 2009. Marketing as Rice Consulting, the founders of what would become JOYN specialised in recruiting professionals for human resources jobs throughout various industries. For three years they continued in this vein, until 2012 when Rice and Sean Walters (also a co-founder) decided to approach recruitment from a more flexible, less traditional perspective.
Evolving through adoption of various technological in-roads, as well as a client needing ten recruitment professionals to work remotely at short notice, v.PRO (Virtual Recruitment Process Outsourcing) was created. They opened branches in Christchurch and Wellington, and continued to tailor this new process to incorporate all that they had learned so far. Finally, in 2017, Rice and Walters renamed their company JOYN, a name that resonated better with their growing SME client base and represented their blend of technology with freelancing professionals to deliver better hires at less than half the usual cost.
In just those two years – from 2017 to 2019 – the company has accumulated five hundred clients who have given an average satisfaction rating of 9.14 out of 10 for all assignments completed in that time.. They continue to revolutionise how companies approach recruitment and human resources work, and aim to gather many more clients in their future.
