Why is it important to teach infants and toddlers? Babies learn from their environment and the people in it, so it's important for teachers to feel confident that the knowledge and skills they are teaching are developmentally appropriate for the age of the children in their groups.

This learning often happens through everyday interactions such as the scenario above. Infants can see and hear what is happening around them and can communicate their needs and interests to others, and parents can help their babies learn by playing with them.

"Primary Caregiving" is the label applied to a practice in early childhood centres whereby a teacher/ educator/ caregiver assumes individual responsibility for the child's care and education, including nappy changing, meals and other routines, and observing and planning to meet the child's needs, and Te Atatu Soouth Childcare provide primary caregiving at their centre.

Te Atatu South Childcare Centre believe that, through everyday experiences, the tamariki will develop social competencies which will support them in future learning success, and they value that the early years/childhood is a crucial period for this to evolve. Partnerships between the centre and whānau helps each child achieve a sense of belonging within the centre.

At Te Atatu South Childcare they believe that time spent through open communication and interaction will build positive, reciprocal relationships and friendships between tamariki, kaiako, parents and whānau and the wider community, providing a rich learning environment where kaiako work and learn together to support each child’s holistic development. As tamariki play and interact with their peers and kaiako they are provided with a wide range of options and experiences to explore throughout their day.

Te Atatu South Childcare provide a stable nurturing environment that allows the tamariki to develop their over all well-being, and they believe that continuity of care is essential to the children’s development, so for more information on childcare centres Auckland and Te Atatu South Childcare please go to www.teatatusouthchildcare.co.nz .
