The Tasman district council ocean rise risk tables are out, and one of the options put forward to the public in the Nelson Tasman Future Development Strategy Consultation document, focuses on limiting urban intensification and development in areas where there is likely to be significant sea level rise.

This would rule out many areas in Nelson, including the central city, The Wood, Tahunanui and the Wakapuaka Flats. Speaking to the Nelson City Council in March, Nelson City Council city development team leader Lisa Gibellini said areas had been ruled out based on 100-year projections of sea level rise of up to one metre. According to the document, most intensification under that scenario would occur to the south, including Nelson South, Stoke and Richmond.

The good news for Richmond Storage is that they are well above the highest forecast two metre sea level rise, as the facility was deisgned with the future in mind, meaning it is at low risk of sea level rise and flood risk.

Richmond Storage is 100% Nelson owned and operated by Storage NZ Limited, operating two facilities in the Nelson/Tasman region – Richmond Storage and Nelson Mini Storage making them one of Nelsons largest storage operators. Briar, Narelle, Frank, Clair and Dave work across both facilities and have great experience in everything storage, with Richmond storage being purpose designed and built in 2018 to service the Richmond and wider Tasman region.

Richmond storage was designed and built for Nelson and Tasman's conditions, and is constructed out of steel, wood framing and industrial ply lining. This means your unit stays dry through our cold winter months and cool over our hot summers. It also means the units are strong enough to stack your belongings against, unlike facilities that use tin or gib.

Richmond Storage is an easy three minutes’ drive from the center of Richmond, located off Lower Queen Street amongst all of the new development, so for more information on residential storage, vehicle storage Richmond and self storage units please go to www.richmondstorage.co.nz .
