The Waikato Recreation Charitable Trust is in the process of sourcing funding to build a purpose built sand sports facility at Lake Karapiro Domain.
Not only will the venue be unique to NZ in its high level of construction but it will compliment the high performance facilities being constructed by other notable sports in the same area.
The vision behind the project is to create a unique opportunity for volleyballers, soccer players, beach touch rugby players, corporate team building groups and schools to expand their current programmes onto the sand!
The Rotary Club of Cambridge Community Trust as been an outstanding and valuable backer to the project so far which has resource consent, leasing arrangements with the council and a trust made up of well known entrepenuers and sports people in Cambridge that aim to complete the project as soon as possible.
Funding applications are currently being submitted to the major organisations and it is envisioned that the facility will become a major center for the two most played sports in the world - Soccer and Volleyball - within the next few years.
