ARROWTOWN

The Arrowtown Village Association is seeking expressions of interest from suitable persons to become trustees of the new Arrowtown Clean Air and Warm Homes Trust.

The charitable trust is being established by the association to secure and enhance the quality of Arrowtown’s (and environs) air and at the same time ensure that Arrowtown homes are warm and healthy. Of particular focus for the trust will be the introduction of the Otago Regional Council’s AirPlan.

The work of the trust will cement the earlier work carried out by the Arrowtown Warm Homes and Clean Air Group, the group’s chairman Gerard Hall said.

“We have been working through the issues with the support of the Queenstown Lakes District Council and the trust initiative will allow the body to optimise wider opportunities for the Arrowtown community, including that of attracting funding,” Mr Hall said.

Trustees will need to work closely with the community and establish solid working relationships with various agencies including the ORC, QLDC, Central Government and various community trust and funding bodies.

“The association is looking for community representative trustees with good communication skills and the ability to undertake considered and robust decision making to assist the Arrowtown Community towards obtaining a sustainable outcome,” Mr Hall said.

The association will call for Expressions of Interest this week, which can be mailed to Arrowtown Clean Air and Warm Homes Trust P O Box 77 Arrowtown or emailed to: Arrowtown Village Association:ava@arrowtown.co.nz.

The closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, 22 February 2008.
