NEW PLYMOUTH

The State Twenty20 competition will come down to a final match shootout in New Plymouth tomorrow (Wednesday 30 January) to confirm the finalists for the 2007/08 competition.

The State Central Stags currently top the points table, on the basis of a far superior run-rate to the other teams that have secured three wins: State Northern Knights and State Canterbury Wizards.

The Stags play the State Auckland Aces in tomorrow's final match.

The Aces need to win to have the chance to defend their Twenty20 title in the final: and win well enough to sneak past the Knights on the basis of net run rate. They would need to record a crushing victory over the Stags tomorrow to secure an unlikely home ground advantage for Sunday's final.

If the Stags win or lose in a close match, they will certainly host the final, which will be held at New Plymouth's Pukekura Park at 2.00pm on Sunday 2 February.
