FAME (Food and Agribusiness Market Experience) is a four-module course in agribusiness and marketing that includes in-market experience. This is the second course and it is run by a Joint Venture between Lincoln, Otago and Massey universities. The first course was an outstanding success. AGMARDT is the sponsor and the ASB Bank the major supporter. The course which is restricted to about 20 scholars begins in August with a domestic module.

This provides background on marketing, supply chains and other aspects of agribusiness. The second module is in November and will involve travel to the US and Europe: the third will be in March 2008 and involve visits to China and Japan. The final module will be a wrap-up and evaluation of the experience back in New Zealand in June 2008.

Scholarships are valued at $28,125 and AGMARDT is offering a very limited number to applicants in open competition. AGMARDT also provides these scholarships to the winners of the Market Innovation Challenge module of the annual National Bank Young Farmer Contest and the winners of the Challenge in 2005 and 2006 will participate in the course. It is expected that places on the course, which are restricted to 20, will be hotly contested.

Details of the course are available at www.fame.ac.nz and application forms for the AGMARDT Scholarships can be down-loaded from that address. AGMARDT can also be contacted directly at agmardt@clear.net.nz .

Applications for AGMARDT FAME Scholarships close on 31 May but applications to go on the FAME course will be accepted by the FAME JV up till 30 June.
