An extraordinary Council Meeting is being held this afternoon in the Hastings District
Council Chamber to discuss the Council joining with other Hawke’s Bay Territorial
Authorities and the Regional Council to seek legal advice on the decision to dismiss the
Hawke’s Bay Health Board.

The meeting will be held today, Thursday 28 February 2008, at 5.30pm at Hastings District
Council 207 Lyndon Road East, Hastings.

The general nature of the business to be discussed is to consider the following draft
motion:
That the Council join with all other Hawke’s Bay Territorial Authorities and the
Regional Council to instruct lawyers to seek judicial review of the decision to
dismiss the Hawke’s Bay Health Board.
And to take any necessary action connected therewith.
The meeting follows action taken yesterday by Health Minister David Cunliffe to dismiss
the Hawke’s Bay District Health Board in its entirety.
