Camp St worksite accident

An accident occurred this afternoon on a work site on Camp Street, in central Queenstown, Queenstown Lakes District Council general manager engineering services Mark Kunath said.


“Unfortunately a contractor has been injured at the site where the Camp Street sewer pipeline is being installed,” Mr Kunath said.


The injured man had been taken to Invercargill Hospital.


“’The Department of Labour has been advised and an OSH investigation will be undertaken,” Mr Kunath said.


The council would also conduct its own internal investigation.


The specific site had been temporarily closed, however other work on Camp Street would continue as scheduled.
