Dishonourable employer is risk to good hospitals

"Spotless Services’ refusal to pay its hospitals workers rates that have been agreed to in negotiation with the union is completely dishonourable and outrageous,” Council of Trade Unions president Helen Kelly said today.

"Hospital kitchen staff, orderlies and cleaners are some of the poorest paid workers in the country."

"Public funding to lift their wages has been provided by government and this funding boost is for the workers, many of whom have been reliant on minimum wage movements to see any increase in their pay, not for Spotless Services to profit out of."

“This kind of behaviour has no place in our public health system, and if Spotless can’t show they are an employer with some credibility they should get out of our hospitals. Our hospitals shouldn’t be put at risk by a dishonourable employer.”
