National welcomes immigration

National has a different view to NZ First on the value of Asian immigration to New Zealand, says National's Ethnic Affairs spokeswoman, Pansy Wong.

"National values immigration from all cultures, because it is an important source of skills and capital to help our economy.

"Views expressed today by NZ First's Peter Brown are not perspectives held by the National Party.

"New Zealand is losing 79,000 people a year and immigrants by and large prove themselves extremely valuable in making up for that loss.

"National supports an immigration policy that welcomes hard-working immigrants to this country."
