Taupo District Council have resolved to suspend further funding to the New Zealand Clean Energy Centre due to insufficient progress being made on performance milestones.

The NZ Clean Energy Centre had been contracted by Council to progress the development of a Clean Energy Centre near Taupo. Due to limited progress being made on aspects of the project Council voted unanimously at their meeting yesterday (Tuesday, 30 April 2008) to suspend the final payment of $40,000 for the current year’s contract, also putting the remaining sum of $160,000 for the 2008/2009 year in question.

The decision also stated that Council believes the Clean Energy Centre project has changed from the application submitted to Council on 12 September 2005.

A decision was made to remove the resolution from confidence.
